We’re excited to share the launch of Local News Day, a new nationwide day of action dedicated to connecting communities with trusted local news and information. 

The Florida Trib is proud to be a Founding Newsroom of Local News Day. 

Taking place on April 9, 2026, Local News Day will bring together hundreds of local newsrooms across the country to celebrate the essential role local news and information plays in our everyday lives — from helping people make informed decisions to strengthening community connection and accountability. 

But this work only matters if our communities are part of it. We invite our readers, listeners, and neighbors to join us.

  • April 2nd: The Midtown Reader in Tallahassee, FL from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in partnership with Capital Region News Collaborative and Community Foundation of North Florida
  • April 9th: The BookMark in Neptune Beach, FL from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
  • April 9th: Books & Books in Coral Gables, FL from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
