Key election dates
2026 Primary Election Dates and Deadlines
- July 20, 2026: Deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation.
- August 6, 2026: Deadline to request that ballot be mailed.
- August 8 – 15, 2026: Mandatory early voting period (check with your county’s Supervisor of Elections for optional days of early voting).
- August 18, 2026: Election Day. You MUST vote at your designated precinct, not an early voting site. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by 7 p.m.
2026 General Election Dates and Deadlines
- October 5, 2026: Deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation.
- October 22, 2026: Deadline to request that ballot be mailed.
- October 24 – 31, 2026: Mandatory early voting period (check with your county’s Supervisor of Elections for optional days of early voting).

Who can vote?
To register to vote in Florida, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be a Florida resident;
- Be at least 18 years old;
- Not have been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state without having the right to vote restored;
- If you have been convicted of a felony, you cannot vote unless your voting rights have been restored.
How do I register to vote or check my registration?
You can check your registration status or register to vote at registertovoteflorida.gov/.
The deadline to register or change your registration is July 20 for the August primary and October 5 for the November general election.
How do I find my polling place?
You can vote at any early voting site during early voting days. You can find a list of early voting sites at your county’s Supervisor of Elections website. On Election Day, you can only vote at your designated precinct. You can find your Election Day polling location by entering your address here.
I’m not registered with a political party (NPA). Can I vote in primary election? If I don’t, can I still vote in the general election?
Yes! NPA voters have plenty on their ballot in the Aug. 18 primary, including nonpartisan elections such as races for school board and judge. With more Florida voters registered NPA (No Party Affiliation), this question comes up more than ever before. And yes, if you do not vote in the primary, you can still vote in the November general election.
How do I request a vote-by-mail ballot?
Florida voters do not need a reason to vote by mail, and any voter can request a vote-by-mail ballot.
A request for a vote-by-mail ballot must be made no later than 5 p.m. on the 12th day before the election (August 6 for the primary and October 25 for the general). State law requires that your county Supervisor of Elections mail the ballot within 2 business days after a request but no later than the 10th day before election day.
If you requested a vote-by-mail ballot in 2024, you will need to request it again for the 2026 elections. If you aren’t sure if you have already requested one, you can check at your county’s Supervisor of Elections website.
To request a vote by mail ballot, you will need your driver’s license number, Florida ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number.

When will my vote by mail ballot be sent to me?
Your county’s Supervisor of Elections is required by state law to mail the ballot within 2 business days after a request but no later than the 10th day before election day. Most supervisors send it well before this; often as soon as the races are set.
How do I return my vote-by-mail ballot?
Your completed ballot must be received, regardless of postmark, by your county’s Supervisor of Elections office no later than 7 p.m. (local time) on Election Day.
If you’re worried about your ballot being returned in time, you can deliver it to your county’s Supervisor of Elections office, one of their secure drop boxes, or deliver it to your polling place on Election Day. You can find addresses and hours for those sites at your county’s Supervisor of Elections website.
